Edward Tulane: Dedicated to Mrs. Smelser

I think it's the best book in the world.

Mrs. Smelser, recognize this?

You got it. It's Edward Tulane. Please read the caption. Do you notice something? You might think that, too.

It's my book. I own it. In 2 days, I read it 2 times. And because of that, I get 2 free books at the library! I think it's very exciting.

Do you think it's exciting, too?

    1. I liked it because it was full of adventure. It's miraculous and full of excitement. I'm warning you--there's a really sad part, but it's still a good book!

In the beginning of the book, Edward got separated away from Abilene. He fell off the ship and stayed at the bottom of the ocean for 297 days. When the waves were bringing him back down again from a storm, Laurence, a fisherman, caught him and brought him to Nellie...

  4. Is this the same author of The Tale of Despereaux? My son is an avid reader and loves the library and book stores. I'm glad you love reading too and have started a blog!

How old is your son? If he's 7 or older, he'd like this book.

  6. My 6 year old is just learning to read. Do you have any book recommendations for easy books? Btw, I've never read this book. We might have to make it our next bedtime book. Thanks!

    1. If he or she likes mystery books, I would recommend Cam Jansen for a read-aloud book.

My favorite book in kindergarten was called The Road Robber. It's by Joe Cowley. It's about a giant who steals roads and makes money off of them.

I can't find it, but I'm guessing (with a helper) Henry and Mudge books.

Parts of a High Five magazine would be good. The Adventures of Spot is the one I think would be best.

Have a great summer. Thanks for reading! Bye!

  8. This is fabulous! Both of my kids ask about my blog and have mentioned wanting to start their own. I will be sure to show them yours as more inspiration!
I will say to you what I say to a lot of bloggers I enjoy the first time I comment on their blogs: Write on, Rose! Write on.....

    1. My favorite part of blogging is writing back to people. It's fun because you know what they like about your blog. You get to answer and say your thoughts about what they had to write. Your kids would probably like blogging, too. If you think about it a lot, it can be really fun.

  13. Hi, Rosemary! Your mom and I are friends. She shared your blog with me. Nice job writing! I'm glad to see you're spending your summer doing fun things like visiting family, reading good books and keeping a blog. Reading is one of my favorite parts of summer break. I like to sit outside and read. Where is your favorite reading spot?

    1. There's a place I want to read, but I haven't gotten to. It is under a pine tree near the driveway. In the sun, it seems like a cozy spot. It is in the shade when it's hot and sunny outside.
      Sincerely,
      Rose Cavalier

  15. You knocked this blog post out of the park, and now I want to read about Edward Tulane. If you think it's good enough to read twice in two days, that's a pretty darn good reference.
    Thanks for sharing!

    1. I got the books today! One is Great Illustrated Classics: Heidi, and the other one is The Edge Chronicles: Beyond the Deep Woods. I've started both. On The Edge Chronicles, I only read the introduction, and it made my eyes water. (I wasn't crying. It just happened because it was hard reading.) In Heidi, so far, it's a good book. If you haven't heard of them before, then you should try Heidi.

PS You might not like the other one as well.
